OR

Railway RRB ALP Recruitment 2026: Exam Pattern

The 2026 recruitment follows a multi-stage process where accuracy and speed are both critical:

  • CBT-1: Screening Test (Qualifying)
  • CBT-2: Two Parts (Part A for Merit & Part B Qualifying)
  • CBAT: Psycho/ Aptitude Test (30% Merit Weightage)

CBT-1 (Computer-Based Test)

This stage is only to shortlist candidates for Stage 2. Marks are not added to the final merit.

  • Total Questions: 75
  • Time Duration: 60 Minutes
  • Negative Marking: 1/ 3rd for each wrong answer

 

CBT-2 (Computer-Based Test)

This is the most important stage. It consists of two parts (Part A for merit, Part B for trade qualifying), conducted in a single session of 2 hours and 30 minutes.

  • Part A (100 Questions / 90 Mins): This decides your merit. Includes Maths, Reasoning, and Basic Science & Engineering (the highest weightage section).
  • Part B (75 Questions / 60 Mins): Trade-specific test. You must score 35% to pass. It is qualifying only.

 

CBAT (Computer-Based Aptitude Test) (Aptitude Test)

Only candidates who pass CBT-2 (Part A + Part B) are called. An aptitude test where no negative marking applies.

  • Batteries: 5 Test Batteries (Memory, Depth Perception, Concentration, etc.).
  • Qualifying: Must score at least 42 marks (T-Score) in each battery.
  • Weightage: 30% of these marks are added to 70% of your CBT-2 Part A marks for final selection.

 

Railway RRB ALP Recruitment 2026: Syllabus

The RRB ALP 2026 (CEN 01/2026) syllabus is designed to test both your general aptitude and specific technical knowledge. Since the final merit is based 70% on CBT-2 (Part A) and 30% on CBAT, focusing on those areas is key.

 

CBT-1 (Computer-Based Test)

Standard: Class 10th (Matriculation) level.

  • Mathematics: Number System, BODMAS, Decimals, Fractions, LCM-HCF, Ratio, Percentage, Mensuration, Time & Work, Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Statistics, Age Calculations, Calendar & Clock.
  • Reasoning: Analogies, Number Series, Coding-Decoding, Mathematical Operations, Syllogism, Venn Diagram, Data Interpretation, Blood Relations, Directions, Arguments & Assumptions.
  • General Science: Physics, Chemistry, and Life Sciences based on NCERT 10th Standard.
  • General Awareness: Current Affairs, Science & Technology, Sports, Culture, Personalities, Economics, and Politics.

 

CBT-2 (Computer-Based Test): (Merit & Trade Stage)

CBT-2 is divided into two parts. You must clear Part B to have your Part A marks counted for merit.

Part A (Decides Merit)

  • Maths & Reasoning: Same topics as CBT-1 but with a slightly higher difficulty level.
  • Basic Science & Engineering: This is the “rank-maker” section.
      • Engineering Drawing: Projections, Views, Drawing Instruments, Lines, Geometric figures, Symbolic Representation.

      • Units & Measurements: Mass, Weight, and Density; Speed and Velocity; Work, Power, and Energy.

      • Applied Science: Heat and Temperature, Basic Electricity, Levers and Simple Machines.

      • Life Skills: Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Education, IT Literacy.

Part B (Trade Specific – Qualifying Only)
